Although considered new to the pay per click industry they are already very much at the top. They are consistently adding new partners including AskJeeves, AOL, EarthLink and the fact that you can bid to appear on Google.com helps to make the Google Adwords program a must for any advertiser. They currently boast over 200 million searches per day from Google alone. Add in their network of top sites and you have one massive load of users. They are also estimating that 75% of web searches come from google. The account management system is real-time, easy to use, has great functionality and has great reporting features. Your keywords don’t get reviewed until after they are live and you will be notified by email if there is a problem with your listings, usually within a few hours. I don’t like their keyword suggestion tool because compared to Overture it is lacking in every area but the rest of their program is accurate and great. They also include a feature to pause a campaign at any time, which makes it easy to advertise sales, specials and last minute items without a 4-5 day approval wait like on Overture. Google also offers you a chance to appear on their content matching partners (sites that they consider relevant for your listings to appear without someone actually searching for your specific keywords). This program is a nice feature for a lot of advertisers but you can also turn it off so you only appear with their “search” partners when people are searching with your keywords. The actual pay per click that google offers is not the same as we are used to. You say how much you are willing to pay per click, how much you are willing to spend per day and they do the rest. The overall program is easy to use, accurate and highly recommended for any advertiser. Just be sure to keep a close eye on your campaigns and spending for the first few days until you have a good idea of how the campaign will go.
