Looksmart Review

Looksmart has changed their system over and over again leaving many advertisers, myself included, upset and unhappy. But they do seem to have finally found something that works...let's hope they stick with it.

If you don't want to be a sponsored listing and would rather appear in the regular search results of MSN, About, Netscape, Infospace (including Dogpile, Webcrawler, Excite etc.) and other major sites than this is for you. Looksmart offers a flat .15 cost per click, you set the amount you are willing to spend in a given month and let it go. You don't have to worry about bidding wars, monitoring your campaign

Looksmart is claiming 77% of internet users will see their listings and I don't doubt it. The problem is the placement. Why do people bid to be number one with Overture, Findwhat, ah-ha.com, goclick etc? Simple, number one is number one. People like to click on the first or second site they see offering the products they want and the other PPCs allow advertisers to be those first and second sites.

Another problem is the .15 per click. For some smaller businesses keywords don’t cost .15 each. If you can’t justify spending .15 per click than Looksmart is not for you. There is a one time $49 set up fee and a $15 minimum monthly spend.

With all that said, Looksmart is obviously a tough choice. They have an incredible network and if you can spend the .15 per click than you will see results. If you can’t than you’ll be wasting your money.
